Popped into the 2013 Australian Woodturning Exhibition today to admire and guess what? Tea Lady had a couple of winning entries. Congratulations, well deserved.

Now I knew Anne-Maria was working on her finials, but I didn't know Anne Maria is also a budding Luthier!

You should be proud of yourself Anne-Maria :)

(and maybe you can describe your methods and timber used as well ;) )

I hope I can find someone to tune it for me. :B Thanks guys. I was quietly pleased with my finished pieces. Even though I did have a few stuff ups with the "banjo". I guess I'd better be there in time for the presentation this year then. :U

Why was there no WIP on these 2 pieces.

We will need to get TL to start doing WIP's.

Did the camera run out of film?

Well the judges aren't supposed to know who did the works. You can't do WIPs AND be secret. :p I have a few "in progress" pics of the banjo. Not the box though. I guess I could make another one.:U

A wip of the next banjo would be much appreciated.
Thanks TL

(Oh the blackwood is in my garage by the way)Not sure I'll make another banjo. Maybe I'll make one with a proper banjo pot on it. :hmm: Although this one doesn't sound too bad. I can't halp thinking there musyt be a reason why guitars aren't round. :hmm:

Like Tea Lady I also genuinely don't know which piece got what placing. As for WIP have you posted any?

I certainly don't object to you or others seeing photos of the work at AWTEX, but I would much prefer that the photos were made available AFTER the event is over.

No WIP yet as the entries are supposed to be secret. The judges, as much as possible, aren't supposed to know who did the work.

Have I done a WIP, not as such. I have posted work followed by pictures of how it was done and have taken progress photos in case someone has shown interest, usually they havent so the photos didn't Get posted. Why, may be because like you I like the pictures afterwards but I like to know someone is interested and I hate WIPs that disappear without being finished and would hate to do that. Also, although I enjoy the friendly banter they go on for so long in both time and pages.
TL, sorry for the hijack, but I was asked.
Regards to all
