zebrano wood, the idea was born about two years ago with the design, but I was not able to develop it, can be seen in many ways, the head of an alien animal that breathes through gills and attacks the old material, a bird of prey taking flight, I was looking for is a movement made up of shapes and colors, the combination of natural vein of the wood and the hand of man that values matter
sorry for my bad english :-
comments and suggestions very welcome
thanks to all :)

That is a very striking bit of work. Can you give us an indication of it's size? It can be rotated for different moods. Excellent:2tsup:

:2tsup::2tsup:Lovely piece:2tsup::2tsup:One very minor pick the finish of the bowl I would like to see some finish on it.Mick:D

the bowl is only brushed along the grain and buffered with transparent matt acrylic paint with water, BUT first of all is soiled with black pigment to age the surface and create a contrast

the gills are finished with the same water-based paint, the rest of the piece with several coats of sealer solvent and steel wool 0000

nothing special trust me .. :)

often a very good result is given by a set of small parts, do not love the finish to water, because often forces you to sand after the application, but in this case I needed to make the surface aged in this parts and the water helped this .. thanks for your comments .. :)

I'd like to ask a question from a point of knowing nothing ... it looks to me like an utterly amazing artwork ... but the bowl section in the middle half puzzles me.

Maybe it is the difference between being a sculpture and ... (I'm struggling) ... a 'commercially attractive artwork' (???)

I'm not meaning to be offensive, because it's very beautiful and way beyond my capability ... it makes me think of fantasy spaceships that I have only seen as a 2D illustrations.

Do you have a vision of how the bowl section would be used, or even if it would be used? (by a purchaser)

I'm quite blown away by it.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi francè,
This is one of those pieces that the more you look into it the more you see and is beautifully carried out, it is inspiring to see the thought that has gone into the process from the drawing to the finished product.
Regards Rod.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Hi Paul .. no offense :) this is simply the intimate expression of a thought, and the satisfaction of talking with your hands, creating something unique and unrepeatable, the bowl can not be used to do something for those who love this kind of pieces is the best way look to meditate

many thanks for your comments :)

Sorry - I was being unclear - I didn't mean 'used' like eg a kitchen bowl.
I had wondered if you had imagined it with a particular plant in the bowl ... or a striking stone or crystal ...or something like that.
Thanks,
Paul
