I am getting sick and tired of woodturning debris going down the neck opening of my shirt.

Can anyone suggest a good brand smock to buy? Needs to be comfortable in summer.

Yes! Woody's Gear smocks are about the only ones you can buy in Oz, but I stand to be corrected.

Hi Gary,
I don't use a smock, as I use a White Chemical Suit.
I cut the Elastic pieces off the Bottom of the Legs & the Hood as well.

On the hot days you can cut the Legs off & the Arms as well.

Why These ;
No Chips or Dust stick to this Plastic Paper Material.

I get approx. 6 / 8 Months out of one, depends on how often I clean my sandpaper on them.
My Wife puts them in the Washing Machine, & they clean up pretty good.

After the Spin Dry you can just about put them on again.
You get a bit of ribbing from some Clowns, by wearing them.

As for the chips going down your neck, cut 4in.-100mm off the bottom of either a Mans Singlet or a T Shirt.
I find it will go 3 times around your Neck.
Problem Solved.

I found a discarded graduation gown in a skip. I normally don't get too many chips down the back.

A lot of recommendations for Woodies Gear but they dont have any pockets apart from the small pencil pocket on sleeve. My favourite is from Lovell Workwear in Wales. See here Woodturning Smocks (http://www.lovellworkwear.com/smocks.html) Their smocks/jackets have two big pockets at the back to store lots of stuff and they have a lightweight/summer version. The best one I have by far; and I have a few.

Just out of interest Brendan, did you get the lightweight version or the regular ?

I have 2 of the regular but this was only because of circumstance not design. They are too hot for summer use so I would like one of their light weight ones.

Here's my latest YouTube effort that, as coincidence has it, features the smock I was referring to. And some other stuff.

I have always turned in overalls.

They keep the sawdust off all of my clothing, not just the top. That way I'm allowed back into the house...

My preference is for the pilot overalls issued to the airforce here in Australia, lots of pockets, but are hard to come by.

I just got a couple of old shirts from Vinnies. Wear back to front. Missus put a couple of tabs on and I tie at front of me. Cost $1 per shirt no mess down the front or back.
