Thanks Neil. I re- edited again and seemed to fix it, I think it might have been a problem on my end.

Cheers Mick,

It was a little while ago, but here goes,
you will need to start with a piece of wood as close to completely square as possible, then I placed it on the lathe with nothing in the headstock or Tailstock, instead I put opposite corners, one in the morse taper thread in the headstock an one in the morse taper in the tail stock,

This link shows a very similar way. Not mine but close. 3 Sided Bowl (http://www.woodturned.co.uk/html/3_sided_bowl.html),

Then I turned a spigot on it, turned it around, put it in a chuck and turned the shape I wanted ten sanded and finished it then payed of the bottom, sorry about being a bit vague but if you need more info Pm me and I will see if I can help you,
cheers Ben

Ben,

much appreciated and especially thanks to the link. It is on the 'to do' list but with SWMBO wanting a yarn bowl and my daughter a set of salt and pepper shakers it will be a while yet :). I still may contact you down the line!

cheers

Mick
