Does anyone have any idea how this timber goes using it for food items/impliments?
Thanks,
Mark

I've made a few bowls and platters with it used for serving nibbles at barbies and things. None of the people who got the bowls have died yet.

John

JohnHow long do you expect it to take John? Would Camphor Laurel be quicker?

I would be worried about the tannins that leech out of it if the timber isn't sealed properly. my hands end stained black after turning balusters!

It does leach a fair bit of tannin etc when it gets wet. Very noticeable timberstains on job wet sites when kwilia is used. Soak some of the shavings in a bucket of water and see what you get.

All the carva bowls in Fiji are usually made from Kwilla, locally it is known as Vesi, but same species.
