for those of you who know me you will realize what a step this was :D i have never done this before and have been wanting to do bowls and other stuff for years now and finally join woodturners of the Hunter and this is my first effort:2tsup: i do know that is a crack you can see but really I didn't expect for it to work :D:D it is made from Camphor and has NO finish on it yet but after a great deal from Neil (Ubeat) at the Sydney show on several of his products i will finish it soon.

Cheers Ian

Congratulations on your first bowl.
You will now be keeping a lookout for larger bits of timber other than pen blank size, and will eventually need more storage room like the rest of us for all those interesting "there might be a nice bowl in there" pieces.

I'm sure you will have fun,
Alan...

Nice work Dorno. Neil's show prices were pretty good weren't they.
And no, I haven't turned a pen yet :D

Ian well done should have taken it to the show so it could have been fondled by all.

CA the crack mixed with coffee grinds or some acrylic poured in.

I see pen blanks becoming segmented bowls :p

Hello Dorno,

Well done. I see the crack as an embellishment. Fill it and add some colour. Just a suggestion.
You will find that this can occur quite often and the key is how you then incorporate it into
the piece so that it becomes a point of interest or highlight. Drillit.
