Triton saw raiser

Has anyone made up a rig for saw raiser for a MK3 saw bench,
I'm looking at the one Triton has made, it's simple enough, but,
to many plastic parts,and, the pressed saw plate is different.
I'm trying to utilise what Ihave...

The Triton saw raiser is compatible with the MkIII but I don't know if it will bolt onto the cast zinc saw plate or if you have to purchase a series 2000 plate. There is a big plastic "hook" which locks the whole shebang in one position by fitting into a rail welded under the table top; the kit comes with two of these, one for S2000 and another for MkIII as most of the series 2000 designated add-ons were designed to be retro fitted to MkIII setups as well. If "A Duke" is watching this post he may be able to shed some more light on this, or you could do a bit of cyber stalking and PM him.

You also lose about 5mm in maximum depth of cut.

As for the plastic bits; mine has been in regular use for nearly ten years now and is still solid and easily adjustable. It's survived 4 house moves; three of them interstate. It's sturdy enough for you, Grasshopper! :D

Can I ask what saw you are going to use in it? The original Triton 9 1/4" saw was designed from the outset to be the best saw you could fit to a NORMAL work centre; ie the extra long locking lever, the fine height adjuster, the precision angle micro adjuster and the fact that the hinges etc are just bloody solid with no slop anywhere. Personally I think you might be better off just buying the saw; the height winder just ices the cake. Oh, unless you are using the dust collection system were the height winder unfortunately then becomes almost mandatory!

To the best of my knowledge no-one has come up with a home-made version.

Appreciate your time in explaining, I was in the she today, and, I ratted thingy's from a saw bench
winder thing i bought for $10.
Now I'm almost there, but I need to rack my brain to work a few more details...
I will certainly post a few photo's of what I'm up too..

now all I have to do is improvise it into my MK3 chassis

G'Day Chaps
Good day spent in the shed working on the winder for my MK3, YES IT WORKED
BUT:-
The screw mech. was mind boggling so spent a bit of time on it
once I got the theory right, I began to put it into practice,
BUT:-
As I wound the chassis up, it began to bind on the table, because of
the stiffeners underneath
OH NO ! I not going start cutting and butcher my MK3, so I will
start a new day tomorrow, with pencil and paper...
We are meant to do these things.....Are'nt we ????

thanks for your interest, yep photo's are coming, just getting over Fathers Day,
Kids have given me some spending money for the Melbourne Timber Woodworking show.
Today I fixed my Lathe, and, made a box to hold my chisels, so bare with me,

Hi Guys
Well here are the photos for the raiser, maybe you can spot some
adjustments that could be made, or, add a bit of input to the design..

Now there is only 20mm clearance from the opposite side of the winder
on the slide chassis, the angle of the winder, has not been decided,
this is where I got stuck,the winder needs to swivel and almost be at right
angles to the table. Now the pipe where the top of the handle is binds
on the under carriage of the table top, NOW:- this where I DO NOT
want to start cutting my table top "stiffners"
In ALL the drop of the saw is only the distance from the...
"ARBOR to the top most TOOTH"
About 3" We are not looking at a huge drop
Well that's it I"m at the drawing board now.....

YEAH, YEAH YEAH WHY does'nt he just buy the winder and the plate
I say "WHY" don't you like the challenge especially when your almost there!!!

Now for the other things I was making.....

So...why don't you make it at right angles to the table :?

The proper Triton method has the adjustment screw vertical and attached to both the saw carrier at the bottom and the rail crossing the workcentre. This rail has to be LOCKED in position in the work centre. The other end of the saw carrier slides back and forth slightly as the carrier is raised up and down. The winder doesn't swivel relative to the table.
