I found last night a really nice old Sagar Dimension saw on Trade me in Christchurch, New Zealand. Unfortunately Trade Me doesn't allow people to sign up who are outside Australia or New Zealand. The saw wasn't sold and i would really like to get my email address to them and see if we can work out a deal, i have enquired about palletised shipping to the uk and it all seems affordable.

Can anybody help me out with a Trade Me account that they would be willing to use to forward my details to the seller?

My email can easily be found at the top of my Sagar collection website: www.sagar-woodworking-machinery.co.uk (http://www.sagar-woodworking-machinery.co.uk).

The link to the machine on Trade Me is: Saw Bench | Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/building-renovation/tools/power-tools/saws/auction-631273752.htm)

Hi,

I have a TradeMe account.
However, as I wasn't a bidder or watcher, all I can do is send a message asking to relist.
However, one of the other items the seller has for sale lists a contact number.
Nissan Skyline 1994 | Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/nissan/auction-631363573.htm)

Best of luck, looks a fine machine.

Thanks for looking into it for me, it does look a fine machine, quite an old one i think. I have had a look at the sellers other listings, and i have been foiled once again, Trade Me doesn't show phone numbers to non members. I have been trying everything i can think of this morning to find a way to sign up to Trade Me but with no luck yet unfortunately....

Hi there in the UK,
I have sent a question to the seller and added your email address so he can contact you should he choose to.:U
Makes me think I should try to track down the Sagar patternmakers lathe I sold about 6 years ago .
Good luck with your obsession.:D

Thank you very much to both of you for your help, i got in touch with the seller last night on the phone, nice guy and he seemed to think it possible to strap to a pallet for me to arrange its collection. He had just relisted it though the evening before i spoke with him and he will let this new listing run its course. I hope it doesn't sell again, and then hopefully i will be able to purchase it directly....

Hi Sion,

This Sagar Dimension table saw looks like a DN, it appears in my earliest J.Sagar catalog and seems to disappear from the 1920's catalog.
I hope the owner does not mind me putting up his photos, as the Ebay advert soon disappears along with the Photos, and this is making for a great post along with a future reference, I have never seen one of these !
Good luck with the sale and shipping Sion, i hope it works out for you, it will be a wonderful addition to the House of Sagar.

Matty, that is a fantastic post you have made there, thankyou. I did a little search on google last night. something like 'Sagar saw trade me'. And curiously another similar sounding saw turned up on there in 2011, but in a different location:Sagar saw | Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/antiques-collectables/tools/auction-346160591.htm)
I wonder if there is any way of anybody contacting this seller to see if that example is still around, as it wasn't sold through the Trade Me listing.

The drive on the saw in the photographs looks to be a motor mounted into the side of the base at the bottom, im assuming that the end of the countershaft would have popped through the same hole, but its not clear. There is certainly no hole for the belt drive in the back of the machine in this case, but that is how it looks to be setup in your early catalogue cuts. I suppose it could also have been intended to be driven directly from underneath, as i dont think underfloor lineshafts were uncommon in carpentry shops.

The saw looks to be fairly good, i cant see anything obvious broken, one of the little tightening knobs on the fence has been misplaced, and the second saws' collar and nut appear missing, no great problem there, new ones could easily be turned. I do hope it comes my way, getting quite keen on the idea of bringing it home. I don't yet have an accurate idea of cost of the whole operation. If it does come my way, i was thinking of asking if the guy could strap it to a pallet upside down, i thought it would be much more stable this way, and all of the small parts taken off to achieve that could be wired safely to the inside of the body.

Hi,

I'll keep the current item on watch.

I followed up the previously listed Sagar saw.
It is not possible to contact someone unless they have something currently listed.
The seller's previously sold item was in May this year - a 1908 Crescent bandsaw no less!
Vintage Bandsaw | Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=589613064)
Mostly he sells recycled wood.
I'll keep a watch on his sales and follow him up for you.
