With all the discussion on frame saws I took a look at my coping saw. I've had it for well over forty years and still reach for it automatically even though I have an Olsen. I've never bothered to see who made it as it did/does the job and I didn't want to embarrass it by asking for its parentage. However, it is made in Australia. The picture doesn't look good but it's the best I can get of the logo. Can anyone place it?

I can't help you but there is a good chance the manufacturer is listed here:
HTPAA :: Australian Makers Database (http://www.htpaa.org.au/ausmakers.php?search=saw&action=search)

thanks Hiroller, I had a look but I can't work out what the first letter is in the logo - I think the last two are J W.

There is an RJW on the list that made coping saws.

Glad to be of help.
Any chance of a wider shot of the saw and handle?
It's not a brand I know.

Here it is Hiroller. Like I said, it's a workhorse and obviously so is the bench. It's not rust on it just years of linseed and sawdust.

In 2004 there was this thread ... http://www.woodworkforums.com/f13/better-coping-saw-11894/

I am waiting for one with a laser beam that won't require any tensioning ... but may well remove several of my fingertips :)

This would be the perfect 1st project for Mr Rudd, now that he has a bit more time on his hands. He could well become the ultimate " gent " woodworker.:U

i like the way Bob passed his lightest one on straightaway to a finishing carpenter friend with orders to work it hard. That's the way to test a new design for flaws.
ps liked the product placement of the gas and vinegar.:D

Good old Jimmy! Unlike some of the other presidents, he was never called a crook or dimwitted.:)

You can get special glasses that give all your tools a good communist tint...
