I have some more of the same slab so I hope to do a couple of others slightly smaller. It does have some nice grain when I first mounted it rough sawn I thought it was white cedar only when I started turning I realized it was one of the fig's.

Thanks for the kind words guy's. I can't tell you which fig Jim I found it under the shed at our wood work group it has been there for a long time but I am sure it isn't blue fig( the one with blue fruit commonly known as Cudgera around the Tweed similar grain but usually very white ) it's to dark for that.

Rod, I asked because the native figs up this way are very pale coloured and have a conspicuous medullary ray, quite different from your piece.
