Hi. My Wolfenden Lathe led me here!

Hi all. I'm brand new here but have been constantly updated by many of you in my quest to get machinery together. Years ago I was a fitter/machinist but have developed a fascination in working with timber. Unfortunately, I know very little about it. Many thanks for the plethora of advice and information members have provided to me without even knowing it. Anyway, a few days ago I got hold of a Charles Wolfenden lathe. It's an extremely solid old unit but not without fault. A crack in one of the bearing caps has been repaired, but the spindle still doesn't seem to run quite true so there's a slight shudder. I don't have a dial indicator handy so can't tell if the spindle's bent. Also, one side of the bed is I section while the other is box. The height seems ok but I'm aware it detracts from the overall look of the machine. A fella on this sight named L.S. Barker provided loads of information about the Wolfenden brothers which probably tipped me towards making the $200 purchase. Thanks for an excellent blog. I've attached some photos (which seems to be a standard requirement on here from what I gather. Hope I haven't gone overboard) and look forward to any comments or advice. The shell bearings are in average condition and I got a heap of chisels and adaptors thrown in. Now all I need to do is learn how to turn timber. Cheers! David.

Hi David and welcome to the forum, I did see your lathe on Ebay and I'm glad it has gone to some one as keen as your self.
looks like a great machine despite the little issues which I'm sure you'll work through.
