Finished this one today from a bit of scrap from another piece (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/jacaranda-lidded-box-178147/) I finished the other day. I love turning these spontaneous pieces, I think they're better than intended ones. Anyway, I'm experimenting with lidded boxes at the moment, specifically playing around with form. I'm gaining inspiration from Chris Stott (http://books.google.com.au/books/about/Turned_Boxes.html?id=IXoxKwHjknkC&redir_esc=y) and Richard Raffan (http://www.richardraffan.com). Ultimately I'd like to develop my own style. I'm a minimalist and I think this is reflected in my work so far. I don't think you'll see much in the way of embellishments from me.
Anyway, this is a piece of Jacaranda from Mapleman (sorry artme), 48mm high by 50mm wide. It's sanded to 400, friction polished and completed with nitrocellulose lacquer. I hope you like. Comments and critiques more than welcome.
