Hi My name is Julia and I'm new to this forum. Been pottering around a few time and thought I should introduce myself.

I have just started doing pyrography and I saw there was a lead for pyro a while back but seems to have gone. Not sure if i just can't see it or if it's gone?? My husband is into wood turning, has only done a few bowls. He is mostly self taught but I sent him to a course at Trends Timber for his birthday. We live in Wollongong area. Not sure if there are many people down this way so it will be nice to hear from people down this way as well as ...well anywhere really. We have trying to source timber blanks down this way and have had no luck thus far. Can anyone suggest any places??

Anyway, that's all for the intro. will have to potter around some more and get use to this forum.

Take care,
Julia

Hi Julia I see that you posted at 10.00pm yesterday and as no one has replied yet I will do so.
Enjoy your time with us. I am sure if you do a search you will eventually find that lead.
Kiama has a wood show where you may be able to source some blanks but that isn't till next March.

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Julia".
There are quite a few members in and around Wollongong and the Illawarra.
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [work in progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.
Cheers crowie

PS - May I suggest you start looking around for the local tree people as they are cutting down good turning timber most days.
Also do a post on one or all of the following:
WOODTURNING - GENERAL (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/)
PYROGRAPHY (Woodburning Art) (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f256/)
TIMBER (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f14/)
