Hey there, I'm Mike & living the life in sunny Perth, WA.

I'm a Shipwright by trade, started back with Halvorsen Boats, Bobbin Head (Sydney) back in 84, transferred to Perth to work with Bondy's Americas Cup yachts, his maxi Drumbeat, a little on Endeavour Replica... and various other goodies...

The old knees & chemicals sent me to Tassie to study Aquaculture for a change of scenery, lotsa fish, diving, etc...

Back to Perth renovating homes, hit the road for a bit driving road trains across the state & country...

Last few years have been building inventions, repairing all sorts of stuff, modifying/repairing various boats & caravans....

Trying to recover from a back injury at work, now just made redundant  so now i'm a free agent & angling toward the open road & a looooong trip around this wonderful country of ours! :U

I still love timber as my favourite medium but sadly don't get much time to exercise the old traditional skills.

Good to meet you & thanks for having me! :2tsup:

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Mike".
You sound like too many of us, enjoying life in the shed making beautiful wood after a lifetime of hard yakka.
There are quite a few members in and around Perth....
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork..
Cheers crowie

PS - Chheck out the toymaking and model section of the forum.....

Welcome to the forum.

If you are going to be travelling, does that mean you will be whittling?

Or you could do something similar to what one of the members is doing.

Haha cant say whittling is my forte but lotsa time sitting around camp fires & secluded spots might find me shaving/gouging the odd bit of timber.... I must say taking your workshop on the road removes the stress of working out what u can & cant pack!... or more to the point what you might need but probably never will while traveling. :D Thanks for the welcomes :)
