There was a thread detailing how to convert a TRA001 router to use with the MOF001 height winder. That technique used the MOF001 worm gear.
Given that Toolspares Online now sell the TRA new winder gear (TRA036-2) and the winder handle is there any reason why the TRA001 can't be converted without using the gear from a MOF001?

The way the MOF001 worm gear is attached is one reason, together with accurate drilling of the metal housing to take the related seal required are probably going to prevent using MOF001 parts. I believe that the later TRA models now have the winder, so it might be possible to use parts from that, although I've no personal knowledge, sorry.

I asked the question of Triton, and here's the answer from Gordon Heggie of Kincrome.

Hi Chris,

Simple answer is no…..if using our parts. The current mechanism is completely different and the mouldings inside the Router are different too.

I know of a guy in Perth (old ships engineer who could do anything) who modified his but it was all engineering work.

I can put you in contact with him if you wanted to talk to him. I know he would share his info.

Cheers

Gordon

Subject: TECHNICAL Enquiry Received From Triton Website

The following details have been received from website:

Enquiry Type: TECHNICAL

Details:

Is it possible to retrofit a table height winder to an older model TRB001 by switching to the latest worm gear and drilling a hole in the case? Apart from the hole, is the lower case the same as in the original model?

I was considering this also but didn't get far. I was thinking of selling my existing one and just buying a new one instead.
