I'm restoring an old saw at the moment (1920 A Ashton and Son's) and I'm up to refinishing the handle.

I read that a lot of people use BLO and shellac to finish the handle. I don't have either of these at the moment. I was thinking of using danish oil, and possibly a wipe of poly with a wax coat over the top. Will this cause any issues down the track? Will the saw purists keep me awake, crying outside my door if I do this?

Choose the type of finish you feel most comfortable using. If that is to be Danish Oil then go for it.

Cool. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Danish Oil is drying now.
