I'm trying to source some nice figured (birdseye, quilted etc...) blonde wood (euc, maple etc.) around 9mm thick for a smallish project box. I'm hopefully trying to get a couple of legnths around 250mm x 500mm.

Any clues of where I might be able to track some down (in Melbourne preferably).

Cheers,
Greg

You might try Rare Woods at 24 Greenwood St Abbotsford (03) 9427 0570 - they have a fair bit of this sort of stuff and are more than happy to sell you as little or as much as you need.

Charlie Bovalino of Bovalino Fine Furniture & Timber, at Maryborough in Central Victoria is milling and dehumidifying all sorts of amazingly figured native timbers his ph is 03 5460 5400 mobile 0429 333 828.

He sells the timber in all sorts of sizes. Most is fiddleback, flame or quilted, etc. He has different varieties of ironbark, box, red gum, etc.

Well worth a trip up into our part of the world to have a look.
