Hi all
Thought those that are interested in Scarfing planks for their boats may be interested in the Jig I have designed and made.
I searched all the books, this forum and the internet but I couldnt see a design that would scarf multiple pieces of timber at once (my timber being W/Red Cedar 30x9mm about 300 lengths). My design scarfs 12 or less pieces at once. The loading up of the jig takes the most time and each piece of timber has to be turned around until it sits flat in the jig as there is only one clamp holding the 12 pieces. Because of the clearance between the sole of the electric planer and the case. This restricts the depth of the rail for the planer to run in and therefor the planer comes out of the grove with the first pass but is alright after. If you could buy a planer with more clearance you could then make the rail deeper. If this sounds a bit confusing have a look at the photos.
