Hi, I'm looking for some advice please. I'm relatively new to woodworking and feel it's time to graduate from Radiata pine to some real timber. I want to make a blanket box out of Australian hardwood.

So a few questions:
Could somebody recommend an Aussie timber that has a rich red hue and is reasonably dimensionally stable.
Where could I purchase this material in Sydney (preferably western Sydney or the Blue Mountains).
Any advice on the best glues, etc to use (I have heard that glues containing water can cause problems.

Thanks

Try Richard at Canalpie Timbers, Nth. Richmond Ph. 02 4571 1570. I obtained some beautiful Sydney Blue Gum that he'd rescued when the M2 was being built. Talk to him, listen & learn.

cheers,
