I recently acquired a small block plane made in England. I think it's a G12-220, but am not sure. Are there any online sites I could use to find out for sure?
I'll include a few pictures in case you are curious

Dave

Hi Dave .... This isn't a bad site to have a read through.

The Superior Works - Patrick's Blood & Gore: Preface (http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan0a.html)

+1 for Patrick's site. Very informative and a bit of humour (allbeit a bit dark)

A modern version of the Stanley 220 block plane.

I think that one looks like the Stanley 60-1/2 ... or somewhere around that number ???

Cheers,

The #60, #60 1/2, and #61 block planes had a very low bed angle of 12 degrees'.

#220 had a bed angle of 20 degree's. The bed angle on the G12-220 shown in the post looks closer to 20 degree's, than 12 degree's.

Depth adjustment only (no lateral adjustment), and no mouth adjustment. In my opinion that's a modern 220.

Cheers, Vann.
