Dust Mite

Recently I posted about the new lathe and what I intended to turn (http://www.woodworkforums.com/187050-setup-chips/).
After some serious rearranging of the workshop. I now have things arranged in a U-shape working area for most of my work.
This leaves a larger area that contains my sander and router table as well as the bench mounted drop saw.
The lathe is now firmly screwed to the bench-top and I've added a temporary tool shelf at the end of the bench for chisels etc.

You can see the chisels I got off the Trademe Auction. They are in good order and at $65.00 for a set of 9 chisels they were a bargain. Good quality steel, and they should do well until I need to replace them.
Speaking of bargains I was in Bunnings last week and spotted this little gem sitting on the shelf.

Now usually I don't buy DIY drills, but the newer range Ozitos are not too bad. Certainly good enough for my workshop. I saw the price tag and had to read it a couple of times. The drill , 2 batteries and case for $50.00. Just couldn't walk past it. It's an ex-display model and there absolutely nothing wrong with it. I used it to bore the center hole in todays little project.
This was the first piece I turned, both the base and shaft, using borrowed tools.
Total height from the bottom to the top including the base is 330 mm, not including the 175 mm lamp harp.
This takes the copper foiled stained-glass lampshade I made while waiting for my chisels to arrive. I do this and leadlighting for a living, but was never able to make the bases until now.

Today's project was a smaller lamp stand. I turned the shaft after lunch today and finished it with liquid Beeswax and Carnauba oil.
This lamp-stand will be about 2/3rds the height of the lamp pictured above and I will be making a shade to go on it. And thats about it for now ... food time :NZ3:
