Hi all, I freehand carve wood signs with my router and I need a new router. Can you help me choose? The features I would like are:

About 1200 watts
About 3 kg weight (6.5 lb)
Large view area to see your work
LED light on cut area
quarter and half inch collets
Dust extraction (vacuum hook up)

Cheers,

Pottsy

DeWalt's DW621 (1100w) & DW622 (1400w) will fit the bill.

Both have the absolute best dust extraction available for freehand work, but both lack LEDs.

Oz. & USA models of the former take all collets; UK & Euro versions are different, being limited to 8mm max.

The DW622 takes all collets.

They have one of the smoothest & most intuitive plunge controls on the market.
