I have a large slab of camphor laurel that I am wanting to turn into a table.

The slab is a little green, is there anything I can do so stop it cracking as it dries ?

A few drying tips.
Keep your slab in a well ventilated area but under cover. ie a shed. Wax or paint the ends as timber dries out from the ends first and this is when and where most of your cracking will occur. If it's a big slab chances are it will develop at least one decent crack around the middle as it loses tension. Not much you can do about this but proper stacking and drying can help. Keep it off the ground, up on bearers and make sure it can breathe on both sides. And wait!!!
Good luck.
