I've been using a newly finished metal Bowl steady.
Almost all of the material came from scrap bins, including the 500mm x 12mm ring.
I also got lucky because my Sandvik R245 facemill (63mm) cut a profile which mirrored the profile of the 72mm inline skate wheels used.
The welds on the arms were made with 7018 rods which produces a relatively soft weld and can be milled easily with a facemill, even on a small machine .
The steady was made for a Vicmarc VL200 and once the arms are turned around it should be capable of handling a 350mm bowl or hollow form.
Weight is 18 kg.

very nice piece. I've been wanting to do exactly same design for my vl300, but making the ring is costly (rolling, welding, ...).
wish I can find such ring, it would make my life much easier. (what kind of ring is that?)

Way too well made  - looks more like a bought job. Top bit of work :2tsup::2tsup:
