Salvaged some wood that was the remnants of an old decking that was lying in a friend's backyard for more than a year. After stripping off the old paint I was surprised to find the timber is in good nick-also hard and heavy as steel. Can somebody tell me what wood they are. The left block is reddish and the one on the right is a pale brown, but turns dark and nice with linseed oil as in the mallet (not the handle which is made of rubber wood).
