View Full Version : Best place for reamers?

Hi guys.

I am after a set of reamers, adjustable. I need small ones, say from 1/4" to 1/2" or thereabouts. My mate has lent me a set of chinese ones and they seem to be doing the job OK for me in aluminium and also in brass. One day obviously I will have to give them back to him (unless he dies in the meantime, and he is looking ridiculously healthy :B) so its obviously good manners to buy my own set.

Best places to source a set? Dont have to be top quality but a medium quality set would be nice.

Have you considered for a medium quality someone like LPR toolmakers?

I get mine from CTC tools, but they are cheap like me... :D

Hi old Hutcho,
I bought mine from LPR Tools.
Not super high quality but they are ok.
When used correctly they work well on steel.

Aliexpress. 9 reamers in a set covering from 1/4" - 1/2", $38 US including shipping. Probably identical to your mates Chinese set. Just search for "adjustable reamer" and you'll get over 200 hits you can filter through.

I have the CTC ones from 6 to 32 mm.

Have used them in mild steel up to 30 mm thick.

I'm mainly using those between 5/8 and 28 mm for fitting pulleys to motor shafts.

Slow but they seem to work well.

Have you tried Stuart at Toolexchange.com.au ? Last time i looked he had several sets to choose from.
