Don't know if this link has been posted before, I received it in an email this morning.

As my friend said:
"Patience, precision, perfection!
It is made in the Erzgebirge region (Ore Mountain Area) of Germany, the southern part of Saxony, where he was born.
This young man in the video knows what he is doing. Enjoy."

Take note of the shape of the chisel used for the turning at the beginning of the video.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing this one Bob.

Timber choice would be critical, I'd imagine.
I checked, out of interest, and the ones in the video are Lime/Linden, tilia europaea.

Thank you Bob for sharing that masterful video,
I'd seen it once before but again it's just amazing the craftsmanship with the end result something very special...
Happy Christmas, cheers, crowie

Absolutely. I originally thought he was using a paint scraper as an alternative skew!

Very skilful, I'd love to try this sort of thing.

Thanks for sharing :)

Hi

great podcast ...

What type of timber do you think ? .. Some sort of poplar or cherry ?

Was the timber green ?

I like the jig used for turning the tapper

Randal, the timber was Lime. (Post #2)

Almost certainly green, I'd say, to curl so well without breaking.

Me too.

(Saw a vid the other day with a guy doing a fine turning with a hatchet, to prove a point.)

These little cool things are the things that make it an interesting world.
