U-Beaut Enterprises has just become (to our knowledge) the major stockits in Australia for Osage Orange timber. http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/biggrin.gif

We will mainly be stocking and selling woodturning blanks and bow staves but will also from time to time have available, roots, (root bark for use in bark paintings), stumps, logs, slabs, baulks, flitches and planks in both green or stabilized air-dried condition.

If you don't know about Osage Orange timber, visit our new web pages U-BEAUT OSAGE (http://www.ubeaut.com.au/osage1.htm) they are nearing completion and should be up in full some time in the next week. (Where have I heard that before) http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/rolleyes.gif

We will be selling both retail and wholesale and welcome all enquiries. Email me at [email protected]

Cheers - Neil http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif

Congrats on your Osage Orange site Neil.
I have a friend who is into archery in a pretty big way and to say that he is interested is an under statement. Please bring some to Philip Island with you. I have turned a few bits and agree with all you say about this timber.
Regards, John H.
I assume that you will be at the island?

We are up and running. The site is now fully operational. I hope. There will be links to bow makers etc. going on soon, but for now we have some representative timber sizes and prices on, and a chance to see what some if the timber looks like.

John - we will definitely have some of it at Philip Island this weekend. Am looking forward to a great weekend of turning. There are over 120 booked in, so it should be great. Lodge 1 (the Animal House) is filled to capacity and will be rocking long and loud Saturday night. All reprobates welcome.

Hi Neil,
Sorry to be so naive but I was wondering where do we get the Osage Orange from?
I have been reading the July/August issue of Australian Woodworker (Catching up http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif) and it said that u Beaut polishes has moved to Geelong. Is this the same as u Beaut enterprises? And if this is the case can I get the Osage Orange from here? I live in Geelong and work in Fyans Street http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif very close.
Thanks
A very green worker

G'day Stinky - Yes it is available from rear 75 Lt Fyans St or this weekend at the Woodies Exhibition at the state offices in Little Malop Street Geelong. This might also help with your lathe problem. See Jim Carroll (Carrolls Woodcrafts) at the show. It's on tomorrow - Sunday 10am - 4pm. Well worth a visit.

Cheers - Neil

Thanks Neil,
I will pop down this week to Little Fyans Street. Unfortunately I work on the weekends so I couldn't make it to the show this year. I have been the past few years and its a great event. I will be planning to join the Lara Woodworkers in the next few weeks so I can ask them about the lathe.
I am very impressed by this bulletin board, I only found it last night nad it has been fruitful already, good to have users close to home.

Thanks Stinky.
