Just finished this Beech bowl. It is 9" dia and 3 1/2" tall as the wood is a bit plain I thought I would add some texturing to the outside.

That is a great bowl!!!:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:
What you have done in terms of form and texturing is proof that plain timber can be used very effectively.:)

Yep Beech can be a little plain, at least the ones that I have used were. Nice bowl and good idea on the texturing.

Beautiful work, love the way the textured area is highlighted with the dark lines !

Thank you everyone. It does not take much to add that little bit and lift a piece, all it takes is the nerve to put a texturing tool, chisel ,wire brush to a nicely turned bowl and see what effect you can get from a plain piece of wood. I know that when I first had a go my first thoughts where what do I do if I mess up, easy take a bit more off and start again it becomes easier after a while.

Ilya I used a three wheel buffing system after sealing the piece with sander sealer. You can get anywhere from a soft sheen to a high gloss finish with practice.
