View Full Version : WHERE CAN I PURCHASE QUALITY PLYWOOD?

I am planning to build a wall mounted tool cabinet in my workshop. I have a set of plans that I downloaded from the Net which calls for 3/4" ply with a birch veneer. (The species of veneer is irrelevant, but I would like a quality veneer finish.)

In Canada, my country of origin, plywood with a range of hardwood veneer finishes were readily available at timber supply yards. This doesn't appear to be the case here in Melbourne - or am I looking in the wrong places?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hiya DPB.
Heres two places worth looking at.
1) Timberwood Trading/Lacey's in Brunswick.
2) Brims. In the Kilsyth area.

Should find contact details in the phone book. Both of these suppliers stock quality product, in a vast range of substrate and veneers. Of course if you want to "lay up" your own veneered substrate check these places out. Fethers and Co. in Port Melbourne and; Peter Scott-young out the back of Ringwood. Hope this helps you some.

You may also try Marine Timbers in Mulgrave.
They stock Marine Ply as well as being the importer of some nice veneer ply.
