A white jumping spider nabbed a bee, taken at night time

Not sure what this one is called, but about 75mm in length and she's got a feed, I say she because there was a tiny male? hanging about in the web and this seems to be how it is for some species of spider/s

Golden Orb Weaver, taken at night, first one is not the same one in the next two pics, the second two she/he was completing the spiral, it's all action with each leg doing something specific

That 2nd one looks a bit like an Australian golden silk orb-weaver. :think:

The web does have a yellowish colour to it if you look at it at an angle, so could be.

Pete, I think the second spider is a Golden Orb Weaver and the third is a Garden Orb Weaver. They could have given them better differentiated names though...

Yes, I just googled the Golden and the Garden orb weaver/s and it's as you say :)

Golden Orb spiders are very common here, they turn up at the start of thre wet and just disappear when it drys out.
The are harmless, but scare the crap out of you when riding along a track and one you hit in the face.:o
They like to spin their web across the track.

On my before bed rounds of the garden a couple of nights ago I noticed my Golden Orb Weaver was off to the side of her usual spot doing something, closer inspection revealed a yellowish ball of silk in amongst the leaves that she had made...

I'd say an egg sack, so next years crop of spiders with a bit of luck, I haven't seen her for a few days so I'm not sure if a bird has got her or after the egg laying thing they die?
