This seems strange to me. One of the reasons MDF had been extensively used in speaker boxes is because it has a consistent density. This is supposed to be a good thing for audio. However one of the reason that JVC gives for the timber cones having good performace is the irregular makeup of timber.

Don't get it...

Haven't speaker cones generally been made from paper in years gone by? There's a whole heap of Tassie wood chip exporters that might give you an argument that that is wood... ;)
