To my knowledge yellow stringy is a stronger denser timber that doesn't shrink or move as much as vic ash. Going back about 20 year my old man and I replaced the floor of one of the huts near our property with yellow stringy and to this day it hasn't buckled, warped or shrunk.
I recon you'd spend a lot of time trying to find a better outdoor/hard wearing timber.

PS. I recon 99% of people would not know if they were buying silvertop, vic ash or tas oak anyway.

Thanks eastie

I place this post with haste as I was given a price of $20 per square meter.
This being to good to be true I posted this just before I went on site to inspect the timber. As it turns out the price was for decking instead, they made the mistake as I did ask for flooring.
so to anyone else don't worry replying to this post.

regards

Gino
