Hello All,

I have just pulled a 1500watt motor out of a vacum cleaner (was in good nick and operated well) that was spare at home. SWMBO does not yet know about this!!!!:D

I also have at home a Triton Dust Bin that I plan to convert to a Cyclone curtosy of examples provided by you all in previous threads.

Planning to build a box to contain the motor and link it to the "Triton Cyclone".

Question - will the motor be powerful enough to make the exercise worthwhile or should I just stick an impeller on the motor and use it for air movement within workshop? Thoughts?

1500 is about as much as most home vacuums and generally fine for the narrow pipe on a Triton. Why didn't you just leave it in the vacuum and hook it up to the cyclone mod. You will still get some fine dust coming through and if it's a normal house vac, you can just tap that out of the filter at the end of each day. Without it, isn't the dust going to get inside the motor ?
