Third and final OCP. This one I made from 40mm S/S. The bore is mirror polished so it doesn’t scratch the side of the lens, the lower dish is also mirror polished for better light diffusion. I turned two grooves toward the top and installed two rubber O rings for a non slip grip then polished the side, the lens is the original. The LED tails were shortened to about 3mm to which I soldered a couple of wires and they culminate in a momentary on push button switch. This one works beautifully with red, green and even white LEDs.
For those that are interested: I found the cross hairs light up best when the LED is mounted within the last 6mm of the bottom of the lens. The crosshairs also seem to light up better with the LED horizontal with half the lens protruding from dish bottom, any more or less doesn’t seem to work as well . Lens length doesn’t matter, although the longer the better I suppose for accuracy when using the centre punch.
