Its been a while since my last post.

Started making boxes again and though you guys would be interested in what I have made.

Its a prototype for a small production run.

Very happy with the results.

It holds 2 fountain pens, 2 bottles of ink, wax seal and 3 lengths of wax, candles and spoon.

The tray lifts out to hold letters/papers and envelopes.

The tray is thick because I wanted to house the bottles of ink within the tray.

Box is made of solid huon pine sides and birds eye veneer lid and base. The 2 pens are both Birds Eye Huon Pine Roman Harvest Pen Kits.

The tray is going to be painted black and lined with suede.

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Looking great!

I'm not sure of what you mean by "The tray is going to be painted black and lined with..." Surely if it's going to be lined, it doesn't need painting? Or do you mean you'll paint the outside black? :?

Better still... don't reply to this. Just post a pic of the finished box for us to oogle over. ;)

That is what they look like with the suede flocking applied to the insert.

Also a photo of the bottles fountain pen ink that sits in the box.

I drool over the beautiful wood, especially that lid, in a great construction.
The suede and black are a great colour contrast to the Huon Pine.
I know why you would use the Mont Blanc bottles, for brand name and shape, but I understand their ink is inclined to clog fountain pens more than most. (I avoid the issue by using cartridges)

I was going to comment about having a contrast in colour. Then I read a little further down to see that's exactly what you have done.

Just curious is this for a specific customer?

No specific customer, it is a prototype for a small batch run for a gallery that I want to make in the near future.
