Hey Dennis, Love the work and the timber but the shape, not so much.
Not a patch on all that other stuff you showed me in Jan.
Keep going mate I'm sure you have some great stuff in mind to make yet,

Regards, Ian

Beautiful piece of timber ... I think the shape is quite ok ... It's a solid sturdy shape.

Hi Dennis, a novice here so grain of salt. I think the bowl is probably well shaped but it is hard to discern from the photographs. Certainly is a lovely piece of tree and well finished. Only the photography lets it down, some different angles and lighting may help. Jay

Thanks guys, it is a lovely piece of timber but was let down by my photos, need to get the lighting done up better. I like to make a rimmed bowl but its not for everyone. Will keep sending stuff, and Ian, looks like i will be down under March or so of next year.

Hi, Jay again, If I may be so bold, your photos are sharp, in focus and reasonably well framed so not too bad at all. The last shot is quite good imho as you have turned the piece at angle to your lights and brought out a bit more contrast in the timber. I think your lighting set up is two lights (or windows) of equal strength either side of the bowl Try altering the strength (wattage, distance or a filter like a sheet or tracing paper) and the position of the lights a key light in close, not too close, and level to the bowl and a filler light a little higher to the other side and further away. the filler should also be weaker. The weaker the fill light , the more the contrast. Both lights at 45 degrees to the front. then play around until you find a system that works for you. Apologies if you know lighting and just weren't able to make use of it this time. Jay

Great, I'll look forward to seeing you then. Will have to see if we can find something special for you to take home that wont upset the Customs people.:D
Cheers, Ian
