Bit of WD40 and a light hand wire brushing and a rub down with an oily rag has revealed some serial no.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/c83fcf0237db5c562df4f6f9d56ed4bc.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/7747bdcef8e3d7526bb928631a1edf06.jpg

The table used to be rack and pinion, and the end was threaded but crudely cut off. I deburred the edges not to score the hole as both appear nicely ground. The pinion and drive are gone..

It's about 1/2" but there is clamping bolts so the gap can go either way.

I got one just like it but complete, l will try to find it over the weekend and post some pics of it.
Can't remember what it is called but it is used to measure parts with an indicator.

Yours looks to be missing the indicator holder which has a shaft that pushes the indicator and limits travel so it won't damage the indicator from over travel.
The bottom part with the handwheel lifts the part up to the indicator so you don't need to lift the shaft each time you put a new part to be measured.

Anyway I will pull it out on the weekend.

Now that I'm looking at it on the computer rather than the phone.

I'm interested in the table and raising mech. Could you get some photos of the gear that raises the table? Also what is the length of the table shaft as mine appears to have been cut down. Yours also looks much thicker than mine the shaft showing under the table looks like it is a thick as the column.

Am I seeing a second table top is bolted to your table?

The Mahr gauge looks very specific model to fit.

I've seen the prefix SAF before. Is it small arms factory?
