One of the Korean war vets at the RSL care where I demo wood working once a week was "doing up" a set of Jarrah bookends made by his Dad - so these things were around 100 years old. The bookends also each housed a small box with a small vertical door. The doors each had home made copper hinges which were broken and little copper handles. We replaced the hinges with shop bought ones and were planning to keep the same handles but muggins here lost one of the handles. I looked around everywhere for something but there was nothing small enough so I decided to make one out of a 5/16 brass machine screw.

The C-pin is a 2 mm job and the thread is a 4mm.
It was a real bugger to make not having made anything so small before.
I couple probably make the best one in half the time but I'm hoping he wont ask me to make a matching one!
Not the best finish but neither is the other handle or the box itself
