I want to build a shaft around 1500mm long that is built from 4 or 5 smaller sections that are screwed (or connected in some other way). Working on a small lathe at the moment, I've got approx 400mm b/w centres. I know they make pool cues by attaching smaller sections but I've looked for plans/advice and haven't found much. The shaft needs to come apart for portability so just need to find a way to connect and disconnect easily. Any ideas?

Any other ways of connecting these smaller sections?

Those brass connectors are a good way to go. Just draw it up full size to work out diameters of taper/shape and Work in the longest lengths for lathe. Easier said than done :)
