I was wondering whether anyone uses the Tormek bench grinding set (BGM-100) to shape their woodturning tools ,what their take on it would be?
I have a link here showing the set up.

Great for reshaping, establishing new bevels or repairing chipped tools prior to finishing it off on the Tormek.
A good quality wheel or CBN is also a must as well on the dry grinder

Yep great addition to the sharpening/grinding area, use mine often with the Tormek jigs.
I made my own

Thanks Acco, Currently running 120grit white 8" grinding wheels, not sure how they compare to CBN wheels .
I like the idea of the Tormek set-up as a means to keep one bevel on the tool !
Cheers:)

Thanks Fred, appreciate that you have made one you made a good job of it from what I can see.I have got the Tormek & the jigs ,thought that this would speed things up a little when needing to go back to the grinder!
Cheers:)

John they are great for reshaping a damaged edge.
One thing to keep in mind is that the there will be more of a hollow grind as you are going from a 8" wheel to a 10" wheel.
It is not much on some tools but easy to work with.

Gives you the best of both worlds.

I love mine. Wasn't prepared to spend the big $$ yet on a Tormek sharpener, but this gives me consistent sharpening as good as I can get on a white wheel. A light touch is all it takes to get a sharp edge.

Jim, the dedicated grinder is an 8" one I have white stones on both sides but am only contemplating having one jig set up.
Cheers:)
