Hello all;

I have just bought a lathe and ive been making wooden spoons, spatulahs and small odds and ends with Jarrah.
I want to make baseball bats aswell, and ive learnt that Vicotrian Ash is one of the best woods to use.
Does anyone know where i can get this timber cheap in Perth area?

Thanks
Tim

Hello Mate
Yes, I do. From trees!

Okay, I've had my fun, send me a PM if you like and I will send you home with some timber to play with free of charge

Most bats are normally made from oak. Cheers WC

make friends with your local tree surgeon or tree lopper.

Bats like tool handles need wood with some spring in them. Vic ash would be a bit brittle I would think but if it is just to scare off people who come knocking after dark then any wood should do. As for most questions google has some answers.
