Welcome Bloodwood, be prepared to get sucked in! Most turners in the Eastern suburbs are well and truly acquainted with Pop's. Yo're right they are a great bunch of guys with massive knowledge and always friendly and willing to help. If you're just starting out, I strongly suggest getting involved with one of the turning clubs in the East. Forest Hills woodturners, Koonung Woodturning Guild, Eastern Woodturners, Knox Woodworking all run sessions for beginners as well as more advanced turners. It's always good to learn good technique as well as safety. Look them up on Google, I think they all have websites.

Good luck and enjoy!
