In the process of preparing to go to Proserpine for the Turnout, I came across a previously glued up blank. An inspiration flashed by. This is the result of that inspiration. There was no pre-determined plan, it just evolved.. :U It measures 1oomm tall and 55mm diameter. It is made from northern silky oak and silver ash. The finial and the thread is ebony. It is finished with glow.

Retired chippy eh?
When I was in the Atherton Tablelands a few years ago I saw a segmented constructed house.
Now it makes sense.
I reckon you must have made it.

Powderpost,

That is lovely. I admire the patience and skill it takes to make such precise and tight joints, along with the placement of the segments. I'm still doing "round and brown" maybe someday I'll get to segmented things.

Hi Smiife, thanks for the compliment. It is Australian ebony, left over from some that a grazier gave me a long time ago. He didn't tell me where it came from, and there is not very much left.
