G'day, does anyone in Australia make paring slicks or scarf slicks? I've heard of Barr tools and Sorby tools, I have two of Barrs framing chisels (beautiful tools). I'm after a 4" slick, 3 1/2 " at a pinch, Thankyou.

It might be I have a spare one :) ... but there might be someone closer to you too.
Cheers,
Paul

There are two 4" slicks ... kind of an auctioneering slip-up ... not that I was objecting too strongly.
I thought there was a picture on here somewhere, but I haven't found it.
I'll post one by the weekend.
Cheers,
Paul

Brendan - I'll reply to your pm ... but here's some pics
... I gave the backs and bevels a touch with a diamond plate to try to make the geometry clearer.

365075 365076

The shorter (top) one is James Swan with an 18deg bevel and is slightly cambered.

365077 365080 365092

365089 365090 365091

The second one is GI Mix, 31deg bevel, and currently the bevel is a bit dished.
Also the handle got a bit nicked by a saw's teeth in transport.

We'll look forward to reports of the oversized GI Mix chisel at work. :)

What other treasures are in your collection that you have accumulated as part of the by-catch from saw trawling??
I'll be in Perth over January and might have to come snooping!

Haven't unwrapped it yet Paul, Christmas day is the day of unwrapping. Soon as I've got enough timber milled I'll post some pics, promise.
