Hi there, just wondering if anyone out there replaced the bearings in one of the 2.2Kw water cooled spindles? if so I would like to hear about the way it is done, and is it easy enough to do it yourself at home or not?

Regards
Nick

Do you have a bearing press? If not, don't even think about it.

There's a three page thread here - http://www.woodworkforums.com/f170/replacing-spindle-bearings-127932 on replacing bearings in an air cooled spindle - including the mystery of 'German' bearings made in China.

Hi there, thanks to everyone who helped to convince me it would be cheaper and easier to buy a new spindle, found one on e-buy for about $165.00 and free postage out of Sydney, I think that would be the way to go.

Definitely. Just a decent set of bearings would probably cost that much, if not more.
