Hi.
How are roundover bits zeroed?

Both in software & on the table? (VCarve)
Thanks,
Rob.

Hi Rob, is the cutter already defined in the tool data base? If not there is a process you have to do to design the shape or profile of the cutter and then add that to the data base as a round over tool. You can design any tools shape to add to the data base. If the cutter is in the data base you zero the cutter like any other by getting the tip of the cutter to touch the work surface. If the cutter is a 12mm radius cutter then for a smooth round edge you cut to a depth of 12mm. I have tapered and round over tools that were not in the supplied VCarve data base and I had to create them. Look in Help and search for "Adding your own custom form cutters" the procedure to create the tool profile is there.
Hope that is the answer you wanted.

Peter

Zero the length and diameter to the end of the bit.

As I haven't gotten around to filling out my tool table I just cheat and create the gcode using an outside profile operation with the depth the radius of the cutter
