This box was made today from a trimmed piece of Blackwood that I was nearly going to throw out. I'm glad I decided to spin it and see how it behaved. I first thought it might make an egg, then a miniature goblet, but it seemed to guide me toward making it into a box. I kept the defect as part of the lid just for interest.

The size is 40mm diameter and 53mm tall at the top of the pointed handle.

Looking good, how did the edge on your tools go? Phils Bowl gave my Thompson gouge some serious stick, to the grinder every third cut at times.

The end result being very much appreciated :)

Tools survived rather well. I didn't have to sharpen at all during the job. I used a fingernail shaped bowl gouge inside and out.
