earlier this month i had the honour of having the Dei Sensei (Neil) staying with me here in mount isa for a few weeks
under his very patient tuition i learnt some new casting and turning skills
myself being a pen turner learning to cast pepper grinders and turn ( check out the casting page in pen turnere page) was a whole new learning curve me.
here is a pic of all the pepper grinders done over the time he was here

388311 my four grinders the best time was only 5 hrs to turn one :q:B

388312all the grinders made while neil was here the 4 on the left are his creations (fancy stuff hey:D)

388313another pic of everything plus a potpurri bowl that i turned again under Neil's tuition

a note of warning the grinder 3rd from left, the timber is called gutta pearcha (think thats how you spell it) the sap from that timber sent Neil blind for 2 days some how he got some in his eyes, ask him about it
and we think the dust rolled me for several days with vomiting etc and stomach cramps for several days after, we think from dust getting into a open wound.
so be very carefull when handling/turning timbers wear the proper PPE
lol a new be reminding you old guru's to be carefull

anyway thanks Neil for the new found skills
cheers Tony
