Hi.
I have attached a photo that shows:

1. the spindle at max Z- ..... it's clear that after installing a bit and setting up the workpiece a lot of Z travel is lost.

2. there is about 7cm from the bottom of the spindle housing to the end of the spindle.

Is it OK to simply raise the spindle in the housing to claw back some Z travel ?

I have asked the suppliers and been ignored.

Thanks,
Rob.

I did with my machine, and haven't had any issues

I move the spindle up or down depending on the thickness of the material I am working on.

Yes. Totally OK. In fact, the higher the spindle is in the clamp the more rigid it is and the better the job should be

I shall ask our engineer about ur question, tomorrow I m going to factory for cnc router delieverying. Wait for my news Skype marylee0411

Any of the hundreds of CNC owners/users on this site could answer the question
This is not a question that needs to be answered by an engineer.
